About the Position

RFDesign is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our vibrant engineering team in Archerfield, Queensland. This is a full-time, on-site role offering the chance to engage with innovative mechanical engineering projects. You will contribute to the design, development, and optimisation of mechanical systems and components. As part of the Mechanical Engineering team, you will play a crucial role in innovating and translating technical concepts into tangible solutions, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to achieve high-quality results. The position is based at our Archerfield facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, analyse, and develop mechanical components and systems utilising industry-standard CAD software and simulation tools.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and technical assessments to evaluate mechanical design concepts and propose enhancements.
  • Perform stress, structural, and thermal analysis to ensure mechanical designs meet performance and safety specifications.
  • Produce detailed technical drawings, specifications, and documentation for manufacturing and assembly.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, project managers, and technicians, to ensure integrated solutions.
  • Support the prototyping process and conduct testing to validate mechanical designs and performance.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues and implement corrective actions to resolve design or manufacturing challenges.
  • Maintain adherence to relevant engineering standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical input to optimise mechanical systems for cost, performance, and reliability.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a comparable professional qualification.
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA, or equivalent programs.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modelling and design work is required, and highly regarded.
  • A strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials science, and manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of relevant engineering standards and codes, including AS/NZS standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage technical projects from inception to completion.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and the capacity to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Professional experience in mechanical engineering is preferred, particularly in product design or systems development.
  • Minimum of 4-5 years of mechanical engineering experience is required.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies and design documentation practices.
  • Previous exposure to UAV/drone industry applications would be beneficial.
