Hitech Air Solutions, a Victorian-based business specialising in air conditioning and mechanical services, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineering Technician to join its expanding team. We offer installation, servicing, repair, and maintenance for residential, commercial, and industrial clients. Due to consistent business growth and increased demand, we require a skilled and dependable individual to support our mechanical and HVAC operations.

About the Role: This position will provide technical support across the installation, testing, commissioning, maintenance, and performance monitoring of air-conditioning, ventilation, and mechanical services systems for residential and commercial projects.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist with the planning, coordination, and technical execution of HVAC and mechanical services projects.
• Interpret technical drawings, specifications, equipment manuals, and mechanical service plans.
• Inspect, test, and monitor air-conditioning, ventilation, and mechanical systems to ensure proper functioning.
• Assist with the installation, commissioning, adjustment, and performance testing of mechanical plant and equipment, including motors, fans, compressors, pumps, ducting, piping, and associated HVAC components.
• Gather system performance data, including pressure, airflow, temperature, and operational readings, and contribute to fault identification.
• Prepare technical reports, job sheets, service records, material lists, and maintenance documentation.
• Estimate material, equipment, and labour needs for mechanical services work.
• Assist with troubleshooting, recommending repairs, and rectifying mechanical and HVAC system issues.
• Liaise with technicians, installers, suppliers, contractors, and clients to ensure safe and specified completion of works.
• Supervise and check the work of trades assistants or junior staff as required.
• Ensure all work adheres to workplace health and safety requirements, manufacturer specifications, project requirements, and applicable Australian standards.

Requirements:

• A relevant qualification in mechanical engineering, engineering technology, mechanical services, HVAC, refrigeration, or a comparable technical field; OR
• A minimum of 3 years of practical experience in mechanical systems, HVAC systems, plant maintenance, commissioning, testing, or technical mechanical services.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and equipment manuals.
• Strong capabilities in fault-finding, inspection, reporting, and technical problem-solving.
• Good communication skills for liaising with clients, suppliers, contractors, and internal team members.
• A strong commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and compliance.
• A current driver licence is preferred.
