Mechanical Project Manager Collaborate Recruitment Sutherland, NSW Contract (2-year duration) Hybrid Work Arrangement
Collaborate Recruitment is seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager for a 2-year contract role based in Sutherland Shire, Sydney. This hybrid position is open to Australian Citizens only.
Our client requires a professional to lead the delivery of complex mechanical engineering and capital works projects. The role encompasses overseeing projects from inception through to completion, including planning, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover. A key focus will be ensuring projects are executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in adherence to all regulatory requirements. This presents a significant opportunity for a seasoned engineering professional with a history of successfully delivering asset replacement, plant upgrades, infrastructure improvements, or other intricate mechanical engineering projects within regulated settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the complete lifecycle of mechanical engineering and capital works projects.
- Administer project scope, timelines, budgets, risks, and resource allocation.
- Manage projects involving mechanical plant, equipment upgrades, asset renewals, and infrastructure enhancements.
- Develop business cases, project plans, technical documentation, and procurement specifications.
- Manage procurement processes, contracts, consultants, and contractors.
- Coordinate construction, installation, testing, commissioning, and project handover phases.
- Prepare and manage regulatory submissions and secure project approvals.
- Ensure adherence to engineering standards, WHS regulations, and relevant legislation.
- Cultivate and maintain robust relationships with clients, contractors, regulators, and stakeholders.
- Identify project risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.
- Promote continuous improvement and foster a strong safety culture within project teams.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to project team members as needed.
About You:
- Degree-qualified Mechanical Engineer with a demonstrated history of successfully managing complex engineering projects in substantial, asset-intensive environments.
Key Skills Required:
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering (or an equivalent qualification).
- Extensive experience managing complex mechanical engineering or capital works projects.
- Experience delivering projects involving mechanical plant, critical asset replacement, equipment upgrades, or infrastructure improvements.
- Strong project management experience, utilising PMBOK or comparable methodologies.
- Demonstrated experience in contract and contractor management.
- Experience managing construction, installation, and commissioning activities.
- Experience preparing and managing regulatory submissions and approvals.
- A solid understanding of WHS, engineering compliance, and risk management principles.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and negotiation capabilities.
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary project teams and influence stakeholders.
- A proactive approach to continuous improvement and achieving successful project outcomes.
