Summerland Support is seeking committed and compassionate Support Workers to join our growing team. This role focuses on supporting a male participant in the Ballina area with an acquired brain injury, severe intellectual disability, autism, diabetes, and complex behavioural support needs within a Supported Independent Living (SIL) environment. The participant relates better to male support workers.

This is an opportunity to make a genuine difference in the life of a participant requiring consistent, patient, and person-centred support. Successful applicants will provide assistance with daily living, community access, emotional regulation, health management, and skill development, while promoting dignity, independence, and quality of life. You will work as part of a team focused on building positive relationships, maintaining routines, and implementing proactive behaviour support strategies.

About Us

Summerland Support is a Northern Rivers based registered NDIS provider delivering person-centred support with a strengths-based approach. We specialise in Supported Independent Living (SIL), complex support needs, support coordination, psychosocial recovery coaching, and community participation services throughout the Northern Rivers.

About You

You are calm, patient, reliable, and able to build strong professional relationships. You understand the importance of consistency, routine, and respectful communication when supporting people with complex needs. You can remain composed during challenging situations, work collaboratively within a team, and follow behaviour support strategies and health management plans.

Highly Regarded Experience

• Experience supporting participants with diabetes or other complex health needs
• Supporting people with intellectual disability, autism, or acquired brain injury
• Experience working in Supported Independent Living (SIL) environments
• Understanding of Positive Behaviour Support and Behaviour Support Plans
• Supporting people with emotional regulation difficulties and behaviours of concern
• Experience implementing person-centred and trauma-informed approaches
• Community access and life skills development support

Preferred Qualifications

• Certificate III or IV in Disability, Community Services, Individual Support, Mental Health, Youth Work, or related field
• Medication Administration training
• Diabetes management experience or willingness to undertake training

Essential Requirements

• NDIS Worker Check
• Working with Children Check
• First Aid and CPR Certificate
• Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module
• Valid Driver Licence and reliable, fully insured vehicle
• Strong communication and documentation skills
