Packaging Engineer

Packaging Engineer VISY Brisbane QLD full-time, onsite

Reporting to the State Sales Manager, this role is central to engineering, design, and commercial delivery. As a Packaging Engineer, you will own the development and optimisation of corrugated packaging solutions. This involves close collaboration with customers, sales, and manufacturing teams to achieve more intelligent and efficient results. This is a practical, customer-facing position where you will lead trials, influence design choices, and drive ongoing improvement in both customer and plant settings.

What You Will Do

• Design and deliver packaging solutions that are fit for purpose.
• Lead product trials at plant and customer locations.
• Optimise board grades, carton design, and specifications.
• Partner with customers to enhance packaging performance and cost-effectiveness.
• Support tenders by providing practical, commercially sound solutions.
• Collaborate with Sales, Design, and Operations to achieve outcomes.
• Identify opportunities to increase efficiency, throughput, and margin.
• Contribute to innovation and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide technical direction on packaging machinery and its performance.
• Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and operational standards.

What You Will Bring

• Experience in packaging, manufacturing, or product development; corrugated experience is highly regarded.
• A strong understanding of packaging design, materials, and production processes.
• The ability to balance technical requirements with commercial objectives.
• Experience working directly with customers in a solutions-oriented capacity.
