Payroll Business Analyst Sharp & Carter Accounting Clerical Melbourne VIC Attractive hourly rate Full-time Hybrid
This is an initial 4-month temporary position with a strong likelihood of extension. The role operates on a hybrid model, requiring 1 day in the office and 4 days working from home.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct payroll reviews, validating hours, pay rates, allowances, and entitlements.
- Perform high-risk employee payroll testing and multi-year analysis.
- Test payroll controls, approvals, reconciliations, and segregation of duties.
- Validate compliance with industrial agreements and payroll legislation.
- Review termination payments and pro-rata calculations.
- Analyse payroll data to identify anomalies, risks, and control issues.
- Escalate recurring payroll issues and control failures.
- Conduct onsite and remote payroll assurance reviews.
- Prepare assurance reports and support executive and board reporting.
- Monitor and track remediation actions to completion.
About You
- Demonstrated experience in payroll audit, compliance, governance, and assurance activities, with the ability to identify risks and ensure adherence to legislative and industrial obligations.
- Strong analytical capability, including the ability to review large datasets, identify anomalies, investigate issues, and provide practical recommendations.
- Experience working with enterprise payroll and HRIS platforms.
- Highly developed stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and confidently liaise with a broad range of internal stakeholders.
- Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and high-quality outcomes while consistently meeting deadlines.
- Advanced proficiency across payroll systems and Microsoft Office applications, with the ability to navigate complex payroll and reporting environments.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- A collaborative and adaptable team player who can work autonomously when required while contributing positively within a broader team environment.
