Payroll & Finance Officer
PERSOL is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll & Finance Officer for a full-time, onsite position in Boronia. This diverse role encompasses payroll processing, accounts payable, and broader finance support. The primary focus is on end-to-end payroll processing and HRIS administration, ensuring accurate and timely employee payments, maintaining payroll compliance, and fostering positive supplier relationships. The role also involves handling basic onboarding and offboarding of employees within the system.
About the Role
Reporting to the Head of the Division, your responsibilities will include:
- Accurate processing of payroll across multiple states.
- Administration of the HRIS.
- Support for the accounts payable function.
- Providing ad hoc support across other finance activities as required.

Key Responsibilities
- Payroll & HRIS
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing across multiple Australian states.
- Maintain employee records and ensure data integrity within the HRIS.
- Process new starters, terminations, leave requests, salary changes, and payroll adjustments.
- Ensure compliance with payroll legislation, awards, Fair Work requirements, and company policies.
- Prepare and lodge payroll tax and WorkCover returns.
- Administer salary packaging and novated lease arrangements.
- Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare payroll reports.
- Respond to payroll enquiries and provide support to employees and managers.
- Other
- Verify, code, and process supplier invoices.
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.
- Prepare and process payment runs.
- Maintain supplier records and vendor relationships.
- General Finance Support
- Provide backup support for Accounts Receivable functions.
- Assist with month-end reporting and reconciliations.
- Prepare journals and support general ledger maintenance.
- Assist with finance administration and reporting requirements.
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 5 years' direct experience processing end-to-end payroll, including HRIS administration.
- Minimum 2 years' experience managing a full-cycle Accounts Payable function.
- Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, payroll tax obligations, WorkCover requirements, and accounting principles.
- Previous experience working within a Finance department.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, and formulas.
- Experience managing payroll tax and WorkCover lodgements across multiple Australian states.
- Experience administering salary packaging and novated lease arrangements.
- Sound understanding of award interpretation and Fair Work compliance.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and handle confidential information with discretion.
