Payroll Manager/ 2IC
Appreciating Recruitment Group is seeking a Payroll Manager/ 2IC for a full-time, hybrid role located in the North West & Hills District. The salary offered is $140,000 - $180,000 + Super + Bonus.
This newly created position offers a significant leadership opportunity within an Australian business with over a century of success across Australia and New Zealand. You will be responsible for the complete payroll process for approximately 3,500 employees, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing within a dynamic, decentralised setting. Collaboration with senior management will be key to supporting operations, advancing payroll standards, and fostering a culture of high performance and minimal bureaucracy.
Reporting to the Head of Payroll, you will lead a team of experienced payroll professionals. Your responsibilities will include overseeing daily functions, ensuring adherence to awards and legislation, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to boost efficiency and accuracy. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring you to mentor and develop your team, build partnerships with stakeholders, and identify opportunities for operational enhancement, all while guaranteeing correct and timely payment for every employee. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented payroll leader who values accountability, collaboration, and making a tangible contribution within a large, stable, and values-driven organisation.
About You:
- A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience in leading payroll operations within a medium to large organisation, including direct management of at least 5 reports.
- Comprehensive knowledge of end-to-end payroll processes.
- A solid understanding of Australian payroll legislation, awards, and compliance mandates.
- Proven leadership abilities, encompassing the management, coaching, and development of payroll teams.
- A keen eye for detail, strong analytical capabilities, and a dedication to accuracy and quality assurance.
- The capacity to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with senior leaders.
- A proactive, solutions-oriented approach with a commitment to continuous improvement and process efficiency.
- Proficiency in payroll systems and advanced Excel skills.
