  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

We are looking for an experienced Payroll Manager to join the Navarra team at our Rozelle Head Office. Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, this role encompasses the end-to-end processing of weekly payroll for approximately 70 permanent employees, alongside 100–300 casual team members during peak operating periods.

This position extends beyond routine payroll processing. We are seeking a proactive professional capable of critically reviewing our payroll systems, processes, and workflows. The ideal candidate will identify opportunities for improvement and implement initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy, compliance, and the overall employee experience. A key aspect of this role involves driving continuous improvement, including recommending and implementing enhancements within Employment Hero and other payroll systems.

In close collaboration with operational leaders and the HR team, you will ensure payroll deadlines are consistently met by following up with managers on roster approvals, timesheet submissions, and payroll queries. You will also partner with key stakeholders to ensure compliance with relevant Awards, employment legislation, and company policies, while providing expert payroll advice across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process accurate and timely weekly payroll for approximately 70 permanent employees and 100–300 casual employees during peak periods.
  • Ensure all payroll activities align with relevant Awards, Fair Work legislation, taxation requirements, and company policies.
  • Follow up with Venue Managers weekly to ensure timesheets and rosters are completed and approved within required deadlines.
  • Collaborate with Venue Managers to improve payroll accuracy, roster compliance, and timekeeping practices.
  • Partner with the HR Manager to enhance payroll systems, processes, and workflows, ensuring a seamless employee experience.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance and optimise Employment Hero, proposing recommendations to improve automation, reporting, and system efficiency.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by pinpointing opportunities to streamline payroll operations and reduce manual processes.
  • Partner with HR to identify and address non-compliance with business processes, including roster management, attendance, and payroll procedures.
  • Maintain accurate employee payroll records and respond to payroll-related enquiries professionally and promptly.
  • Reconcile payroll reports, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of payroll data.
  • Assist with payroll audits, year-end reporting, Single Touch Payroll (STP) requirements, and statutory reporting obligations.
  • Prepare monthly payroll reporting, including leave liability, wages analysis, overtime, labour costs, and other key workforce metrics.
  • Partner with the Chief Financial Officer and HR Manager to provide payroll insights and reporting that support informed business decisions.
  • Build strong working relationships across Finance, HR, and Operations to ensure payroll supports wider business objectives.

About You

To be considered for this role, you must possess:

  • Expert-level experience using Employment Hero.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience working with Employment Hero payroll systems.
  • Strong payroll processing and systems improvement experience.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with managers and stakeholders.
  • Valid work rights; visa sponsorship is not available.
