Ainsworth Game Technology, a global leader in high-quality casino systems, is seeking a detail-oriented, experienced, and reliable Payroll Officer. This part-time, onsite role is based in Newington and involves ensuring accurate and timely payment for our Australian workforce, supporting month-end and year-end activities, and contributing to smooth people operations. This position requires 3 days of work per week.
Position Summary:
The Payroll Officer will manage 9–13 pay runs monthly, maintain accurate employee records, and ensure full compliance with payroll legislation and reporting requirements. Collaboration with Finance and HR is key to delivering timely, accurate payroll outcomes and providing responsive, professional service to employees and management.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and process weekly and monthly pay runs, including entering timesheets into Pronto, maintaining and updating personnel records, and preparing and processing PAYG payments.
- Process month-end activities, including updating headcount reports, generating month-end reports, and updating long service leave calculations.
- Complete month-end payments within required timeframes, including payroll tax and superannuation, and conduct monthly reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
- Accurately calculate final payments for terminating employees, sign off on the return of company equipment, and communicate the offboarding process to the relevant manager and employee in the absence of the Human Resources Manager.
- Compile Sales Executive commission letters annually and process commission payments quarterly, following approval from the President and Finance.
- Respond to and resolve payroll-related enquiries from employees, management, and external stakeholders within the scope of the role.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of state and federal payroll laws and regulations, including termination, leave entitlements, superannuation, payroll tax, and Single Touch Payroll (STP).
- Manage payroll system updates and maintenance, and produce payroll reports to support auditing and company reporting requirements.
- Complete end-of-year payroll wrap-up and assist Finance with end-of-year accounting formalities.
- Provide support to the Human Resources Manager as requested and participate in ad-hoc projects and business activities as directed.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in end-to-end payroll and financial year-end processing, including payroll for 200+ employees on a weekly basis.
- Demonstrated understanding of employment conditions, Modern Awards, and the National Employment Standards.
- Thorough knowledge of relevant payroll legislation, including state-based long service leave entitlements, superannuation, payroll tax, and STP.
- Ability to complete and understand reconciliations, with a sound grasp of cost codes and general ledger concepts.
- Proficiency in payroll/HRIS systems, with experience in Pronto highly regarded.
- Strong ability to generate, interpret, and reconcile payroll reports for audit and business reporting purposes.
- Highly developed verbal and written communication skills, with a high level of interpersonal and organisational ability.
- Ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and work both autonomously and as part of a team.
- A strong commitment to confidentiality, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- A positive, can-do attitude.
