McCosker Contracting is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join our HR team in Gladstone, Queensland. This role involves the timely and accurate processing of payroll, collaborating with internal stakeholders to facilitate payroll processing and resolve issues, and upholding accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the accurate preparation, verification, and processing of weekly wages.
• Support payroll data entry and administrative duties.
• Validate conditions under the MCPL Enterprise Agreement, NES, Modern Awards, and individual contracts.
• Accurately accrue and process employee leave entitlements.
• Maintain payroll records to support quality processes and audits.
• Address payroll queries and discrepancies professionally and promptly.

Experience and Skills:

• Minimum of 2 years in a payroll or comparable role.
• Relevant qualification or training in payroll, business, bookkeeping, or equivalent experience.
• Strong understanding of applicable Modern Awards.
• Demonstrated ability to work within established payroll systems and processes.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail in data entry and record keeping.
• Effective communication and stakeholder liaison skills.
• Intermediate proficiency in MS Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Knowledge of the civil construction industry is desirable.
