News Corp Australia is seeking an ambitious and capable Payroll Officer to join our Human Resources team. This role is integral to unlocking News Corp's potential for growth in a dynamic media landscape, equipping passionate individuals with the skills to excel in an innovative and collaborative environment.

About the Role

As a Payroll Officer, you will be responsible for the end-to-end payroll processing on a monthly and weekly basis. This includes the interpretation of Enterprise Bargaining Agreements (EBAs) and awards, managing new starters and terminations, processing payroll tax, and all associated tasks.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Review and submission of weekly and monthly pay runs.
  • Maintenance, updating, and verification of payroll records, including new hires, terminations, rate changes, and deductions.
  • Investigation and resolution of incoming customer queries.
  • Participation in SOX compliance processes and ad hoc improvement projects.

Who You Are

We are looking for an individual with:

  • Previous payroll experience, ideally within a large corporate environment in Australia.
  • Proven Excel ability and technological savviness.
  • Experience using Dayforce and Workday is highly desirable.
  • A detail-oriented, proactive, and enthusiastic approach.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, enabling you to explain complex payroll matters to employees with patience and clarity.
  • The ability to meet deadlines and contribute to company accounting initiatives.
  • Experience in running diverse and complicated pay runs that adhere to modern awards and EBAs.
