Principal Bridge Designer
KBR - Kellogg Brown & Root Pty Ltd is seeking a Principal Bridge Designer to join their high-performing Structural team in Perth WA. This full-time, hybrid role offers the opportunity to lead impactful bridge and transport infrastructure projects across Western Australia.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the WA Structural Discipline Manager, you will function as a technical specialist providing structural engineering services within the transport sector, with a dedicated focus on bridge infrastructure. Your responsibilities will include leading the planning and execution of engineering work, applying sound judgment to complex challenges involving competing design requirements, material constraints, and multi-disciplinary coordination. This position integrates technical leadership, project delivery, and client engagement, with prospects to contribute to proposals, support business development, and mentor junior team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver structural design and analysis for bridge and transport infrastructure projects.
- Plan and execute work to meet budget, schedule, and quality targets.
- Prepare and review design calculations, reports, specifications, and drawings.
- Mentor and support junior engineers, designers, and drafters.
- Coordinate with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities.
- Contribute to proposals, project planning, and business development activities.
- Support the delivery of MRWA projects, including ETS panel work and inspections.
About You
You are a technically strong and commercially aware Structural Engineer with extensive experience in infrastructure, particularly bridges, and a passion for mentoring and developing others.
- Degree in Engineering (Structural or equivalent) with 10+ years’ experience, including 7+ years in infrastructure.
- Strong expertise in bridge design and civil infrastructure within a consulting environment.
- Solid understanding of MRWA design processes.
- ETS panel and bridge inspection experience is highly regarded.
- Proficient in SpaceGass, STAAD Pro, or Strand7.
- Ability to independently prepare and check design calculations.
- Chartered (CPEng) or able to obtain within 6 months.
