Principal Finance Officer Asset Acct

Department of Health - Queensland is seeking a full-time Principal Finance Officer Asset Acct to join their team in Brisbane QLD. This is an onsite role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and positively influence a team, contributing to the provision of operational asset accounting services and associated compliance requirements for the Department of Health.
  • Coordinate and lead annual asset stocktake activities, including preparation and consolidation of the annual asset stocktake report.
  • Coordinate and contribute to the completion of business-as-usual tasks to facilitate efficient and effective monthly, quarterly, and annual processes and reporting, ensuring all tasks are completed accurately and in accordance with demanding timescales. This includes maintaining the integrity of the general ledger and asset register, as well as providing expert professional guidance to other teams within the Department when identifying and resolving emerging asset accounting issues.

Role Fit:

Essential requirements for this role include:

  • Detailed knowledge of, and recent experience in, the practical application of Australian Accounting Standards, Financial Reporting Requirements for Queensland Government Agencies, Queensland Treasury's Non-Current Asset Policy, legislation, contemporary financial management practices and policies.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing comprehensive and well-rounded advice to all levels of management and other stakeholders, and in the development of policies, procedures, and reporting mechanisms.
  • Demonstrated involvement and success in leading continuous improvement programs and initiatives in the areas of operational asset accounting, with demonstrated ability to work within and thrive in successful teams.
