North Burnett Regional Council is seeking an experienced Project Engineer (Flood Recovery) to undertake a critical role in the execution of its flood recovery program. This presents a significant opportunity to contribute to the reinstatement of vital community infrastructure through engagement with diverse civil engineering projects funded by the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).

Reporting to the Flood Recovery Manager, your responsibilities will encompass the complete project lifecycle, from initial damage assessment through to final completion and funding acquittal. You will be accountable for ensuring all works are conducted safely, efficiently, and in adherence to funding and legislative mandates.

Position Details:

• Work Type: Full-time, Fixed Term (until 30/06/2028)
• Salary Range: QLGIA (Stream A, Level 6-7) up to $99,667.42 + 12% Superannuation
• Location: Gayndah
• Schedule: 9-day fortnight

About the Role:

As Project Engineer, your duties will include:

• Delivering flood recovery projects from the planning phase to completion.
• Prioritising and managing works based on community requirements, safety considerations, road hierarchy, and economic impact.
• Coordinating emergency and restoration activities with internal departments, consultants, and contractors.
• Managing project budgets, schedules, and reporting in line with DRFA stipulations.
• Preparing funding applications, progress reports, and project documentation.
• Leading procurement activities, contract administration, and contractor performance oversight.
• Conducting site inspections and supervising construction quality, safety, and compliance.
• Cultivating strong relationships with government entities, contractors, consultants, and community stakeholders.
• Championing a robust workplace health and safety culture across all project endeavours.

This position is offered as a fixed-term contract, extending until 30/06/2028.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

• Degree qualifications in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience managing civil infrastructure projects, with a preference for experience within local government.
• Substantial project management and contract administration experience.
• Demonstrated understanding of construction, maintenance, and quality assurance for civil infrastructure.
• Experience in managing project budgets, procurement processes, and contractor performance.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and report writing capabilities.
• Proven leadership skills with the capacity to coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
• Sound knowledge of Local Government legislation, standards, and processes.
• High-level computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and business management systems.
• The ability to operate effectively within a political and community-focused environment.

Essential Requirements:

• Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Current Construction Industry White Card.
• Current unrestricted C Class Driver Licence.
• National Police Check (or willingness to obtain).
