Qualified Disability Support Worker

Support and Therapy at Home is seeking a casual Qualified Disability Support Worker to join our team in Adelaide SA. The role offers an hourly rate of $37 – $45.

About the Role

As a Disability Support Worker, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing individualised support to NDIS participants in their homes and communities.
  • Promoting independence, capacity building, and community participation.
  • Assisting with personal care.
  • Facilitating community access and social participation.
  • Undertaking domestic assistance.
  • Providing transport to appointments and activities.
  • Delivering capacity building supports.
  • Administering medication, where appropriately trained.
  • Supporting participants in achieving their individual goals.
  • Maintaining accurate documentation and progress notes.
  • Adhering to participant support plans and Positive Behaviour Support Plans, where applicable.

Areas We Service

We provide support across metropolitan Adelaide, encompassing the Northern, Eastern, Western, Central, and Southern suburbs.

  • Northern Suburbs: Elizabeth, Munno Para, Salisbury, Mawson Lakes
  • Eastern Suburbs: Magill, Rostrevor, Campbelltown, Newton, Athelstone, Burnside, Kensington, Norwood
  • Western Suburbs: Port Adelaide, Cheltenham, Alberton, Semaphore, Largs Bay, West Lakes, Grange, Henley Beach, Findon
  • Central Adelaide: Adelaide CBD, Prospect, Clearview, Unley, Goodwood
  • Southern Suburbs: Marion, Brighton, Hallett Cove, Morphett Vale, Christies Beach, Noarlunga, Seaford

Essential Requirements

Applicants must possess:

  • A minimum of Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability), Disability, Community Services, or an equivalent qualification.
  • A current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance.
  • A current South Australian Working with Children Check.
  • A current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
  • Current Manual Handling training.
  • A current unrestricted Australian Driver’s Licence.
  • A reliable, roadworthy, and comprehensively insured motor vehicle.
  • A smartphone with internet access.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

Highly Regarded

The following experience and training will be highly regarded:

  • Experience supporting participants with intellectual disability, Autism Spectrum Disorder, psychosocial disability, mental health, physical disability, complex support needs, and Positive Behaviour Support Plans.
  • Experience with High Intensity Supports.
  • Medication Administration training.
  • PEG training.
  • Infection Prevention and Control training.
  • Experience in restrictive practice environments.
  • Experience supporting participants with complex behaviours.
