This role is based in Brisbane and is part of our expanding Highways team, which is managing a robust portfolio of major road and civil infrastructure projects across South East Queensland and other regions. Given the ongoing government investment in the SEQ transport network, we are seeking an experienced highways leader to drive the next phase of growth.
As a key member of the ANZ Transport Leadership Team, you will contribute to strategy, capability development, and market growth throughout Australia and New Zealand. Our teams collaborate across Australia, New Zealand, and globally, combining local expertise with world-class technical capabilities to shape how communities connect and move.
Job Description
Due to sustained growth in our Highways portfolio, we are recruiting an experienced leader to join our Brisbane team in a senior leadership capacity. This position will be instrumental in expanding our highways capabilities across SEQ, cultivating strong relationships with key clients such as TMR and local authorities, and leading a high-performing multidisciplinary team in the delivery of major road and transport infrastructure projects.
As a member of the ANZ Transport Leadership Team, you will also influence the broader strategic direction across the region and contribute to the expansion of AECOM’s highways business.
How you’ll make a difference
- Lead growth across the SEQ Highways market: Utilise your established network to strengthen client relationships with TMR, local government, and key infrastructure clients, positioning AECOM for significant highways opportunities.
- Deliver complex highways projects: Provide leadership for major road, corridor, and transport infrastructure projects, ensuring outcomes are of high quality and technically sound.
- Drive technical excellence: Champion best practices in highways design and delivery, promoting innovation in digital engineering and integrated design solutions.
- Strengthen multidisciplinary collaboration: Work closely with planners, designers, and technical specialists across ANZ to achieve integrated and seamless project outcomes.
- Develop and mentor a high-performing team: Build team capability, support succession planning, and foster a collaborative and inclusive culture.
Qualifications

- Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- 15+ years’ experience in highways or major road infrastructure projects.
- Strong technical background in highways engineering and design delivery.
- Well-connected within the South East Queensland highways market, with established client relationships.
- Proven experience working with TMR and/or local government clients.
- Demonstrated leadership experience within a consulting or professional services environment.
- Strong client engagement and business development capability.
- A collaborative leadership style with a focus on team growth and delivery excellence.
