Pinangba Services is seeking experienced facility managers to join the team at Star of the Sea Elders Village. Cultural knowledge and lived experience are highly valued, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are encouraged to apply.

Star of the Sea Elders Village is situated on Thursday Island, offering views of the ocean. Residents are engaged in cultural events such as the Coming of the Light Festival, with activities reflecting traditional culture and knowledge, including basket weaving, traditional dancing, storytelling, music, hymns, and songs. The role focuses on empowering Elders and improving health outcomes for Torres Strait Islander communities, caring for the body, spirit, and community wellness.

About the role: This position prioritises cultural knowledge and community connection. You will work with the front-line team to deliver exceptional care to residents, fostering a culture of values-based, person-centred care. You will maintain a high standard of quality and compliance, ensuring the facility meets regulatory requirements through best practice clinical care and audit activities. Financial sustainability will be driven by community engagement to support occupancy, alongside oversight of property maintenance, hospitality, and lifestyle programs. In collaboration with senior clinicians, you will lead a team of nurses, personal carers, and support staff, providing coaching and direction to support their performance. Creativity and enjoyment are encouraged within the team.

Role requirements:

• A strong background in aged care, with leadership experience in growing and developing similar services, focusing on quality and person-centred care.
• Proven mentorship and coaching of frontline leaders, leading to strong service performance, sound quality outcomes, and care governance.
• Confidence in managing complex and conflicting priorities, with the ability to pool resources to meet deadlines.
• Bachelor of Nursing, or equivalent qualification, OR substantial experience in the management of a residential aged care or healthcare service.
• Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients and communities.
• Experience coordinating care provision within a large team.
• Confidence in managing staff, conflict, pressures, and competing priorities.
• Ability to provide leadership, support, and mentorship to other team members.
• Satisfy relevant probity checks required by legislation or organisational policy.
• This role is considered Key Personnel under ACQSC and/or NDIS requirements, necessitating meeting key suitability criteria and completing additional compliance measures.
