Pinangba Services is seeking experienced facility managers to join the team at Star of the Sea Elders Village. The organisation values cultural knowledge and lived experience, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are encouraged to apply.

Pinangba is the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander service delivery arm of UnitingCare. Its foundations are built on cultural identity and strong community relationships and partnerships. Star of the Sea Elders Village is situated on Thursday Island, offering views of the ocean, sky, coral reefs, and palm trees. Residents are integral to the community and participate in cultural events such as the Coming of the Light Festival. Traditional culture and knowledge are respected and supported through activities like basket weaving, traditional dancing, storytelling, music, hymns, and songs. The role aims to empower Elders and improve health outcomes for Torres Strait Islander communities, focusing on holistic wellness that cares for body, spirit, and community.

About the Role: This position prioritises cultural knowledge and community connection. You will work with your front-line team to deliver outstanding care to residents, fostering a culture of values-based, person-centred care. Your knowledge will promote high standards of quality and compliance, ensuring the facility meets all regulatory requirements through best practice clinical care and audit activities. You will also ensure strong financial sustainability by driving community engagement to support occupancy, while overseeing property maintenance, hospitality, and lifestyle programs. Collaborating with senior clinicians, you will lead a team of nurses, personal carers, and support staff, providing coaching and direction to support their ongoing performance and success. The team is encouraged to be creative and enjoy their contributions to success.

Role Requirements:

• A solid background in aged care, with leadership skills demonstrated in growing and developing similar sized services, focusing on quality and person-centred care.
• Experience in mentorship and coaching of frontline leaders, resulting in strong service performance, sound quality outcomes, and care governance.
• Confidence in managing complex and conflicting priorities, pooling resources to meet deadlines.
• Bachelor of Nursing, or equivalent qualification OR solid experience in the management of a residential aged care or healthcare service.
• Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients and communities.
• Experience coordinating care provision within a large team.
• Confidence to manage staff, conflict, pressures, and competing priorities.
• Ability to provide leadership, support, and mentorship to other team members.
• Satisfy relevant probity checks required by legislation or organisational policy.
• This role is considered Key Personnel, requiring the meeting of key suitability criteria and completion of additional compliance measures as per ACQSC and/or NDIS requirements.

Remuneration:

• Competitive Salary + Super + NFP Salary Packaging

Additional Benefits:

• Sign-on Bonus: $2000
• Retention Bonuses: $27,500 paid in instalments over 24 months.
• Relocation Package: Up to $5000 available for those relocating to Thursday Island.
• Affordable onsite accommodation available (no pets).
• Additional remote living and relocation benefits may apply through NFP salary packaging.
