Job Description

Roster Officer

The Benevolent Society

The Benevolent Society is an independent, non-religious not-for-profit organisation with a mission to foster a just society where everyone feels valued, safe, and included. For over two centuries, our guiding principle has been that every person deserves to live life on their own terms, with dignity, respect, and a sense of belonging. We actively embrace diversity and are deeply committed to reconciliation, welcoming individuals from all backgrounds, identities, and experiences to contribute to positive change.

Your Role

As a Roster Officer within the Carer Gateway program, your primary responsibility will be to coordinate and schedule staff and agency workers to deliver essential support services to carers and their loved ones. You will ensure each client receives services that are precisely aligned with their unique needs, preferences, and circumstances, encompassing aspects such as language, the type of support required, and preferred timing.

This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of services. You will cultivate strong working relationships with staff, clients, and external agencies to facilitate the delivery of high-quality, seamless support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Arrange for internal or agency staff to provide essential services, which may include domestic assistance, personal care, and respite services.
  • Match staff skills, experience, and availability with the individual needs and preferences of clients.
  • Liaise with external agencies to guarantee that carers and clients receive integrated and seamless support.
  • Manage roster changes, cancellations, and updates with a focus on clear communication and efficiency.

What You'll Bring:

  • A background in scheduling or rostering.
  • Experience with scheduling or rostering, demonstrating flexibility to adapt to changing needs.
  • An analytical mindset coupled with strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • A robust customer service focus, including a friendly telephone manner and the ability to establish and maintain key stakeholder relationships.
  • Technological proficiency, with the ability to effectively utilise client management and documentation systems.
  • A solution-focused approach, driven by a passion for achieving positive client outcomes and satisfaction.

If you identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, we encourage you to apply. The Benevolent Society values the cultural knowledge and wisdom of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and is committed to being an Employer of Choice that offers, provides, and practices cultural safety.

Our Benefits:

We are dedicated to supporting our employees to live their best lives, recognising that this is unique to each individual and can evolve over time.

  • Salary Benefits: You can package up to $15,900 per annum of your pre-tax salary for everyday expenses, reducing your taxable income and increasing your take-home pay.
  • Work/Life Balance: Enjoy flexible work arrangements, including hybrid home/office options. Full-time employees accrue an additional day off each month, totalling 12 bonus days per year.
  • Recognition and Reward: We offer sector-competitive remuneration, a variety of recognition programs, and access to long service leave after 5 years of employment.
  • Wellness: Access a Fitness Passport, our Employee Assistance Program, and the option to purchase additional leave.
  • Professional Development: Tailored career development opportunities are available to all employees and volunteers to support career enrichment, fulfilment, and growth.
  • Our Reconciliation Commitment: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees are entitled to up to 2 days paid and up to 10 days unpaid cultural leave. They also have the option to participate in reference networking groups and access cultural and professional development opportunities that support career pathways and social and emotional wellbeing.
