Senior Accountant

Focus Partners is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Albury-based team. We are a chartered accounting and financial planning firm dedicated to helping clients optimise their financial outcomes and life experiences. This is a full-time, onsite position.

As a Senior Accountant, you will manage a client portfolio, delivering high-quality accounting, tax, and compliance services with a significant degree of autonomy. You will also contribute to the development of junior team members. This role is ideal for an individual who excels in technical detail and seeks to develop leadership capabilities.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare, review, and manage financial statements and income tax returns for sole traders, partnerships, trusts, and companies.
• Manage ongoing compliance obligations, including BAS, PAYG, GST, and FBT.
• Prepare tax planning figures.
• Liaise with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) as required.
• Review the work of less experienced team members.
• Share technical knowledge and support the confidence building of junior staff.
• Engage directly with clients, respond to queries, and contribute to consistent client service.

Requirements:

• A bachelor's degree in Commerce, Business, or a related discipline with an Accounting major.
• Substantial experience finalising financial statements and tax returns for various entity types.
• Strong technical knowledge in areas such as Capital Gains Tax (CGT), Division 7A, depreciation, trust distributions, Small Business Entity (SBE) concessions, and tax minimisation strategies.
• Competence in working independently on both routine and complex matters.
• Experience guiding and mentoring junior staff.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Proficiency with Xero, Xero Practice Manager, FYI Docs, and NowInfinity.

Desirable:

• CA or CPA qualification.
