Senior Bookkeeper Granny Flats WA Booragoon $75,000 – $85,000 per year full-time, onsite

Granny Flats WA is a family-owned and operated residential building company based in Perth, with over two decades of experience in delivering granny flats, renovations, and extensions throughout the greater Perth metropolitan area. We are currently in a growth phase, investing in our systems, processes, and team. Our close-knit team, under 50 individuals, fosters genuine collaboration. We offer realistic working hours and are dedicated to supporting our team members' success.

This is a newly created, significant internal role. As our Senior Bookkeeper, you will be the sole internal finance team member, reporting directly to the GM Finance. You will work alongside the administration team at our Booragoon office. The financial operations are yours to manage.

What You Will Be Doing:

• Issuing progress payment and deposit invoices for new sold jobs, and receipting all incoming client payments against the correct job.
• Managing accounts payable and receivable end-to-end, including keeping creditors current, chasing overdue progress payments, and maintaining clean aging reports.
• Preparing weekly payment runs for GM Finance authorisation.
• Processing verge permit refunds from local councils and reconciling these against the relevant job.
• Reconciling all bank accounts regularly and keeping them current.
• Preparing complete payroll workings ahead of each pay run, including leave balances, commissions, and bonuses, for review and processing by the GM Finance.
• Preparing and issuing Practical Completion documentation packages for Site Supervisors.
• Owning the month-end close process in MYOB, including journals, accruals, and reconciliations, and compiling the financial data pack for GM Finance.
• Progressing toward independently compiling the monthly management reporting pack for distribution to Owners and Executives.
• Serving as the internal point of contact for our external accountant, coordinating data provision and reviewing BAS, ATO, and ASIC compliance outputs before lodgement.
• Supporting a planned transition from MYOB to a cloud-based accounting platform.
• Contributing to the documentation of finance processes as we formalise our systems.

What We Are Looking For:

• 3–5+ years of in-house bookkeeping experience, ideally in construction, building, or a project-based SME.
• Solid hands-on MYOB AccountRight skills; Xero experience or willingness to transition is an advantage.
• Strong working knowledge of GST, BAS, PAYG, and Australian payroll and superannuation obligations.
• Confident with AP, AR, bank reconciliation, and month-end close, with the ability to perform this work accurately and independently.
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
• Clear written and verbal communication.
• Self-driven, detail-oriented, and reliable; you manage your own workload, notice discrepancies, and ensure month-end is completed on time.
• Comfortable working in a growing business where not everything is perfectly documented yet, and energised by helping to improve this.
• No formal qualifications are required. We value your experience and how you have applied it.
