An Executive Contract Officer 1 remuneration package of $233,112 is offered for this role. An executive contract of up to 4 years may be offered. This is a fixed-term contract position based in Darwin.

Infrastructure NT, within the Department of Logistics and Infrastructure (DLI), is seeking an experienced leader to head a nationally significant infrastructure program. DLI collaborates with industry, community, and government to develop safe, efficient, and forward-looking infrastructure that supports economic growth and strong communities. Infrastructure NT directs the Territory’s strategic infrastructure planning and development, aligning investments with economic and population growth, and delivering major national projects.

About the Role

This pivotal leadership position is for the Darwin Region Water Supply Infrastructure Program, specifically focusing on the Adelaide River Off-stream Water Storage (AROWS) project. AROWS is an innovative and sustainable initiative designed to double Darwin’s water supply. It will utilise a natural ridge formation near the Adelaide River to pump and store water, creating a large reservoir without damming the river.

The Senior Director will lead a professional, multidisciplinary team to address complex challenges, oversee innovative pre-construction design, program integration, and delivery strategy development for this significant and career-defining project.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and high-level advice on complex program delivery, governance, procurement, and engineering design.
• Lead a multidisciplinary team to achieve innovative and best-practice project development outcomes.
• Oversee program budget management and provide recommendations to executive leadership.
• Prepare high-level documentation, including Cabinet submissions, Ministerials, and briefings.
• Manage strategic relationships across government, industry, and community stakeholders.
• Provide oversight of complex procurement and contracting activities.

About You

You are an experienced executive leader with a strong background in major infrastructure project delivery and complex program management.

You will bring:

• Proven experience in major project and contract management across planning, design, and delivery phases.
• Highly developed strategic, analytical, and leadership capability.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills at an executive level.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and drive outcomes in complex environments.
• Expertise in strategic planning and innovative solutions to complex challenges.
• Tertiary qualification(s) in a relevant discipline combined with senior executive experience, or an equivalent combination of substantial senior executive experience and education or training.
