The Opportunity Underground Insights is seeking a Senior Drafter with significant experience to spearhead the delivery of intricate underground utility and survey drawings. This role will also drive ongoing enhancements in drafting standards, workflows, and systems across the business.
This is a pivotal position involving a varied project portfolio. You will not only be crucial in producing high-calibre deliverables but also in influencing the methodology, standardisation, and scalability of drafting practices across projects and teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret complex survey data, field notes, and BYDA plans (from basic to advanced levels) with a high degree of accuracy.
- Produce and review high-quality CAD deliverables for survey and underground utility projects.
- Translate 12d Model outputs into precise, production-ready CAD drawings.
- Lead the creation and ongoing refinement of CAD standards, templates, and scalable workflows.
- Identify inefficiencies and implement improvements within drafting processes, tools, and systems.
- Ensure all deliverables consistently adhere to client, industry, and road authority standards.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects, priorities, and deadlines.
- Provide technical direction, mentoring, and quality oversight to junior drafters.
About You
- Extensive experience in a senior drafting role within survey, civil, or utilities environments is required; this is not a graduate or entry-level position.
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD or BricsCAD, with the capacity to optimise workflows and outputs.
- Strong working knowledge of 12d Model outputs and their integration into CAD environments.
- Demonstrated experience in interpreting complex survey, design, and utility information.
- Proven track record in developing or implementing CAD standards, systems, or process improvements.
- Ability to operate autonomously and take ownership of technical outcomes.
- Strong problem-solving capability with a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
- Practical experience or a strong interest in automation, scripting, or technology-driven efficiency improvements is desirable.
- Ability to interpret and apply client and authority standards with minimal supervision.
