Location: Parramatta Work Type: Full-time, Ongoing Salary: Clerk Grade 9/10 ($129,464 - $142,665 per annum), plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading

The Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) is seeking experienced individuals for multiple Senior Finance Analyst roles within the Strategic Finance team. These positions offer a hybrid work arrangement.

Your Role As a Senior Finance Analyst, you will act as a trusted finance business partner, collaborating with senior leaders to translate complex financial data into clear, evidence-based decisions that enhance services for communities across New South Wales. You will operate within a dynamic work environment, engaging with senior stakeholders across agencies, managing diverse portfolios, and contributing to positive community outcomes. The role supports professional growth through development opportunities aligned with the NSW Public Sector Capability Framework and offers flexible working arrangements consistent with NSW Government policy.

Responsibilities As a member of the Finance Business Partners team within the Finance and Procurement Services division, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Working closely with divisional executives to develop comprehensive budgets from inception, ensuring alignment with business plans and organisational priorities.
• Delivering timely and accurate financial reports, transforming complex data into accessible, actionable insights for various stakeholders.
• Identifying emerging financial pressures proactively and developing practical mitigation strategies to safeguard service delivery and public value.
• Contributing to funding strategies through the preparation of robust, evidence-based budget submissions and proposals in partnership with the business.
• Collaborating with Corporate Finance to promote sound financial management practices, ensuring business operations comply with NSW Government requirements and supporting Division leaders in upholding probity, equity, and public administration standards.
• Utilising your credibility, integrity, and ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to empower senior leaders in making confident decisions that deliver value for money and improved community outcomes.

What We're Looking For We are seeking a collaborative business partner capable of translating complexity and influencing decision-making. You will be adept at refining complex financials into clear messages and engaging stakeholders at all levels. The ideal candidate will build consensus, manage divergent viewpoints, and secure commitment to financially sound options. You will possess strong planning, forecasting, and analysis skills, utilising trends and scenarios to inform decisions and business cases. A focus on outcomes, effective deadline management, and a commitment to quality are essential. You should be able to anticipate risks, interrogate data, and recommend practical solutions. Coaching business stakeholders, streamlining processes, and championing continuous improvement are also key attributes.

Essential Requirements:

• Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Business, Commerce, or equivalent experience.
• Appointment is subject to reference checks; a National Criminal History Check and/or Working with Children Check may also be required.
