About the Role: The Senior Finance Officer holds a pivotal position in supporting Biripi's financial operations. This involves maintaining precise financial records, generating financial reports, processing and reviewing transactions, completing reconciliations, and contributing to budget monitoring. The role ensures adherence to relevant legislation, organisational policies, funding stipulations, audit procedures, and internal financial controls.
Key objectives of this position include:
- Understanding payroll compliance, legislation, and award interpretation.
- Ensuring the organisation meets its taxation and legal obligations in accordance with regulatory and statutory requirements.
- Providing senior-level guidance to finance officers.
- Developing and implementing financial policies, procedures, and controls for efficient and effective financial management.
- Monitoring and analysing financial data to identify improvement areas and offer recommendations.
- Assisting in the preparation of financial reports, budgets, and forecasts for internal and external stakeholders, including the Board of Directors.
- In collaboration with the CFO and executive leadership, preparing and executing departmental budgets to achieve strategic objectives while maintaining effective cost controls.
- Overseeing cash flow management, including monitoring cash reserves and ensuring sufficient operational funds.
- Monitoring financial delegations and approvals to ensure appropriate exercise of approval limits.
Essential Criteria:
- Qualifications (or near completion) in Finance, Commerce, Accounting, or a related field.
- A strong understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and other statutory requirements.
- Experience interpreting Awards, employment contracts, and payroll legislation.
- Experience working within a Not-For-Profit Organisation.
- Sound experience in applying for and managing government funding.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team.
- High-level interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work flexibly within tight timeframes and adapt to variable workload demands.
- Ability to build relationships with all levels of the organisation.
- High-level computer literacy, with a sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office Software.
- Ability to hold all relevant security clearances, including a Police Check and Working with Children Check.
- A current valid Driver’s Licence.
