Senior Financial Accountant
Allura Partners is seeking an experienced Senior Financial Accountant for a full-time, onsite 2-month contract position in Bankstown, Sydney.
This role offers an immediate opportunity to contribute to the day-to-day accounting operations within a dynamic logistics business. The position is suited for an individual who can commence work promptly, possesses strong technical accounting abilities, is comfortable in operational finance settings, and can effectively manage competing priorities with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Accounting & Month-End Close
- Manage the complete month-end close process, including the preparation and posting of journals, accruals, and prepayments.
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accurate account maintenance and timely resolution of variances.
- Oversee fixed asset accounting, encompassing additions, disposals, depreciation calculations, and maintenance of the fixed asset register.
- Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations across the group's entity structure.
- Support lease accounting and adherence to AASB 16 requirements.
- Financial Reporting
- Prepare precise and timely monthly financial statements, including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow reports.
- Assist in the preparation of management reports and financial commentary for senior stakeholders.
- Support the preparation of statutory accounts and year-end financial statements in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards.
- Assist with external audit processes, including the preparation of audit workpapers and responses to auditor inquiries.
- Ensure consistent adherence to reporting deadlines and documentation standards.
- Tax & Compliance
- Prepare and lodge monthly and quarterly BAS, including GST reconciliation and review.
- Support FBT and income tax compliance, liaising with external advisors as necessary.
- Maintain compliance with relevant regulatory and legislative requirements, including payroll tax obligations.
- Assist with transfer pricing documentation and intercompany loan accounting, where applicable.
- Accounts Management & Internal Controls
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, supporting the team to ensure accurate and timely processing.
- Monitor cash flow and bank reconciliations, identifying and flagging material variances or discrepancies for review.
- Maintain and enhance internal controls, identifying risks and proposing process improvements.
- Liaise with operational teams to resolve finance queries and ensure accurate coding and allocation of costs.
What We're Looking For:
- CA or CPA qualification.
- 3 to 4+ years of relevant experience in a Senior Financial Accountant or comparable role.
- Strong technical accounting skills in month-end close, financial reporting, and statutory compliance.
- A solid understanding of Australian tax obligations, including GST, BAS, and FBT.
- Comfortable working at a fast pace and managing competing deadlines within a contract environment.
- Proficient Excel skills; experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) is preferred.
- Availability to commence on short notice and commit to the full 2-month engagement.
