Senior FP&A Analyst
P&C Partners Pty Ltd
Location: Sydney NSW Salary: $150,000 per year plus Super plus Bonus Work type: full-time Work setting: onsite
P&C Partners Pty Ltd operates a diversified portfolio of specialist businesses across Australia and New Zealand, forming part of a larger, well-resourced global group. The company functions within a dynamic and strictly regulated sector where profitability, governance, and operational discipline are paramount. As the group expands, there is a significant investment in financial planning, data, and reporting capabilities, acknowledging that sound commercial decisions depend on timely and accurate financial information.
The Role
Reporting directly to the CFO, the Senior Finance Analyst will oversee budgeting, forecasting, and performance reporting for the entire portfolio. This position offers substantial influence, working closely with executive leadership and business heads. The focus is on transforming financial and operational data into actionable insights that inform decision-making, rather than producing reports that remain unused.
The responsibilities cover the complete planning cycle, including annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and long-range modelling. This is complemented by the monthly cadence of management reporting, variance analysis, and commentary to explain financial performance. The role also involves strategic activities such as acquisitions, integrations, pricing, and portfolio performance analysis. A hands-on approach will be required to enhance reporting systems, data quality, and forecasting accuracy as the group grows.
This role is designed for career progression. As credibility and expertise within the portfolio are established, there is a clear opportunity to advance to an FP&A Manager position, assuming broader responsibility for the function as the business scales.
Duties will include:
- Leading annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and long-range planning across the portfolio.
- Developing and maintaining financial models to support strategic planning and business decisions.
- Collaborating with business leaders on revenue, expense, headcount, and profitability forecasts.
- Preparing monthly management reporting packs, dashboards, and executive performance analyses.
- Analysing business performance, commissions, expense trends, and operational KPIs, providing clear variance commentary.
- Supporting Board and executive reporting requirements as needed.
- Providing financial and commercial input on acquisitions, integrations, and business cases.
- Delivering scenario analysis and sensitivity modelling to support strategic decisions.
- Partnering with operational leaders to drive cost optimisation and efficiency initiatives.
- Driving improvements in reporting automation, data quality, and financial processes.
- Supporting ERP and BI tool implementation and optimisation, coordinating with shared services where applicable.
About You
You are a commercially oriented finance professional who prefers active involvement over back-office tasks. You appreciate the cycle of budgeting and forecasting but are equally comfortable challenging assumptions, asking probing questions, and developing models that influence leadership discussions. You also possess a forward-looking perspective, aspiring to grow into a larger remit and prepared to dedicate the effort required to achieve this, building trust through accuracy, follow-through, and clear communication across all business levels.
Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role, you will likely possess:
- Substantial experience in FP&A, commercial finance, or finance business partnering.
- Strong financial modelling and analytical skills, with advanced Excel proficiency.
- Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting.
- The ability to translate financial data into commercial insights that senior stakeholders can act upon.
- Confidence in presenting financial information to executive and Board-level audiences.
- CA or CPA qualification.
Experience within regulated financial services environments would be advantageous, as would exposure to multi-entity portfolios, M&A, or finance transformation projects, though these are not essential.
What's On Offer
This is a pivotal role within a growing, well-resourced group, offering direct reporting to the CFO and significant visibility across executive leadership. You will contribute to shaping the business's planning, forecasting, and performance understanding at a time of active investment in these capabilities, meaning your contributions will have a lasting impact on systems and processes.
This position is also a deliberate career stepping stone. The company seeks an individual motivated to grow into an FP&A Manager role, with a defined pathway to assume greater ownership, scope, and leadership as their capabilities are demonstrated.
A competitive salary package, including potential for Short-Term Incentives (STI), will be offered, commensurate with your experience and capabilities.
