Role Overview: BAE Systems has an opportunity for a Senior Management Accountant to join the Central Functions Finance team. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this role provides financial support and advice to meet internal and external reporting obligations.
Core Duties:
- Prepare monthly reports of actuals and variances against budget and previous forecast accurately and promptly.
- Review and challenge the appropriateness of forecasts/spend to date, develop corrective action plans with relevant parties, and ensure follow-through.
- Review and challenge annual budgets submitted by function or line of business for realistic achievability and strategic alignment, applicable to P&L and Balance Sheet.
- Assist with all financial reporting for the Line of Business (LoB).
- Support the Accounting Manager in facilitating, consolidating, and preparing Integrated Business Plan information.
- Develop and maintain professional finance relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide relevant financial advice to all functions and follow up on any financial queries raised.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with Accounting Standards and the internal financial policies manual, involving investigation of implications and providing accounting advice.
- Provide support for internal and external audit requirements.
- Assist with ad-hoc decision support requirements.
Candidate Profile:
- Degree qualification and a professional CA, CIMA, or CPA qualification.
- Excellent knowledge of budgeting and cost analysis, with a strong understanding of financial and management accounting practices.
- Ability to influence individuals and teams across multiple business areas to shape and implement business requirements.
- Ability to balance conflicting priorities to meet customer and business requirements, with appropriate stakeholder management.
- Ability to negotiate with and influence internal and/or external stakeholders to generate business benefit while maintaining key relationships.
- Adaptable written and verbal communication skills suitable for a variety of audiences are critical.
- Up-to-date knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and Australian International Financial Reporting Standards (AIFRS).
- Intermediate MS Office skills, particularly in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Australian Government Security Clearance.
