The Department of Housing and Public Works is seeking a Senior Occupational Therapist to join its Housing and Homelessness Services team. This role focuses on assisting Queenslanders with disabilities, ongoing health conditions, or age-related needs to secure safe, accessible, and suitable housing.

In this position, you will collaborate with local housing teams to conduct expert assessments, propose home modifications, and deliver specialised, trauma-informed services. You will also work alongside allied health professionals and other service providers to ensure optimal support for clients. Your expertise will be valuable in areas such as designing accessible social housing, providing guidance on tenancy management, and mentoring new staff, ultimately contributing to improved outcomes for individuals and communities throughout Queensland.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conducting occupational therapy assessments to identify housing requirements and recommend modifications that improve safety, independence, and quality of life.
• Collaborating with local teams and service partners to deliver adaptable, client-centred solutions through in-person, online, or phone interactions.
• Contributing to the development and review of accessible social housing designs.
• Providing expert advice to departmental staff and external agencies regarding housing needs for individuals with disabilities, long-term health conditions, or ageing requirements.
• Producing high-quality reports and maintaining accurate client records.
• Promoting a culture of professionalism, accountability, and workplace safety.
• Mentoring new staff and supervising students to develop team capabilities.

Mandatory Requirements:

• A degree in Occupational Therapy from a recognised tertiary institution.
• Registration (or eligibility for registration) with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.
• A C Class Driver's Licence.
• Flexibility to travel within Queensland is desirable.
