Senior Payroll Officer

FourQuarters Recruitment seeks an experienced Senior Payroll Officer for a contract role within a well-established finance team in Sydney NSW. This is an initial 3-month contract, with likelihood of extension, supporting accurate and timely payroll delivery for a growing employee base. The role offers 2 days per week work from home flexibility.

About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Payroll, you will contribute to the delivery of accurate and timely payroll for a substantial Australian employee base, with some exposure to international payrolls.

Responsibilities

• End-to-end processing of monthly and ad hoc payrolls
• Support for international payroll as required
• Month-end and year-end payroll processes, including reconciliations and compliance
• Payroll tax calculations, annual reconciliations, and associated payments
• Timely lodgement of STP, Payday Super, Payroll Tax, PAYG, and other reporting obligations
• Processing of bonus rounds, remuneration changes, and backpay calculations
• Administration of employee benefits, leave entitlements, and expenses
• Onboarding and offboarding support, including termination payment calculations
• Maintenance of accurate employee records across systems and platforms
• Management of the payroll mailbox and employee query resolution
• Workers compensation return lodgements across jurisdictions
• Ad hoc payroll, HR, and finance projects as required

About You

• Minimum 5 years' end-to-end payroll experience
• Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, PAYG, superannuation, payroll tax, and STP
• Experience with termination calculations and statutory requirements
• Intermediate Excel skills
• High attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines
• Strong communication skills and ability to handle confidential information with discretion
• Proactive and collaborative approach
