QLS seeks a Senior Payroll Officer for a 6-month contract to join our Finance team. The Finance team provides accurate, efficient, and customer-focused financial management, compliance, and reporting services. This role will support the transition of payroll services to an in-house model, involving system setup, testing, and process mapping using KeyPay. The Senior Payroll Officer will also be responsible for delivering accurate, compliant, and timely fortnightly payroll for two entities, ensuring all legislative and reporting obligations are met.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Finance Manager in transitioning payroll services in-house, including system setup, testing, process mapping, and go-live activities using KeyPay.
- Process accurate and timely fortnightly payroll across two entities, covering new starters, variations, leave, superannuation, and terminations.
- Ensure compliance with Australian payroll legislation, awards, PAYG, superannuation, payroll tax, and Single Touch Payroll requirements.
- Prepare payroll journals, reconciliations, and reports to assist Finance, P&C, and management decision-making.
- Develop and maintain payroll procedures, process notes, and documentation to support a robust in-house payroll function.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in end-to-end payroll processing, ideally across multiple entities.
- Proficiency in using KeyPay, including the ability to configure and optimise the system.
- Strong understanding of Australian payroll compliance, including superannuation, PAYG, payroll tax, and STP.
- A history of supporting payroll transitions or process improvements.
- A proactive, detail-focused approach with the ability to manage tasks effectively under deadlines.
