The Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Power System Engineer to join our Network Connections team. This role will contribute to the secure, reliable, and future-focused performance of South Australia's high-voltage transmission network.

Your responsibilities will include providing specialist advice on customer connections and power system performance, assessing proposals, negotiating Generator Performance Standards, and developing power system models to support a secure and reliable transmission network.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic & People Leadership
• Lead technical initiatives and influence key decisions.
• Mentor engineers and guide project teams.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to achieve compliant, future-focused network outcomes.
• Operational & Technical
• Manage customer connections, provide technical advice, conduct assessments, and undertake GPS negotiations.
• Support long-term planning analysis, market assessments, and scenario modelling.
• Produce planning reports, power system models, and specialist analysis to support system security, capability, and compliance.

About You

You are an experienced power systems professional with strong technical judgement, attention to detail, and experience in transmission network performance, customer connections, power system analysis, and modelling.

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

• A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or higher.
• Eligibility for membership with Engineers Australia.
• A minimum of 10 years' experience in transmission network, power systems, or a related engineering discipline.
• Strong experience in power system planning, network performance, customer connections, and operational support.
• Sound knowledge of transmission system reliability, substation components, and performance.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex technical data and models to support power system planning, system design, and operational outcomes.
• A strong understanding of the economic impact of solutions to complex technical problems.
• Experience using modelling analysis and programming tools such as PSS/E, PSCAD, PowerFactory, AULimit, Python, or Matlab.
• Sound knowledge of legislated industry requirements, including NER, ESCOSA, OTR, and AEMO.
• Strong communication and stakeholder influencing skills to effectively support business improvement and collaboration.
• A willingness to travel as required for site testing and commissioning activities.
