Snowy Hydro is a dynamic, integrated energy business that has provided on-demand, reliable energy to Australia for generations. The company owns and operates a significant portfolio of generation assets, encompassing the Snowy Hydro-electric Scheme, gas and diesel electricity generating plants, and contracted wind and solar energy within the National Electricity Market. Additionally, Snowy Hydro supplies electricity and gas to over 1.5 million retail customers through its retail brands, Red Energy and Lumo Energy. Snowy 2.0, currently under construction, represents Australia's largest committed renewable energy project, designed to deliver on-demand energy and large-scale storage for future generations.

Job Description:

This role seeks an experienced Electrical Engineer to contribute significantly to one of Australia's most complex and iconic infrastructure projects. As a dedicated Senior Project Engineer (Electrical), you will join the Snowy 2.0 site team, providing essential engineering oversight and assurance to ensure electrical construction and installation works meet the highest standards and contractual obligations. You will act as a proactive leader on site, reporting directly to the Site Manager (Electrical) and serving as their second-in-command, playing a key role in the project's success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety Leadership: Champion health and safety, ensuring all activities align with Snowy Hydro's policies and values.
  • Quality Assurance: Provide assurance that construction and installation works are delivered as designed, preventing legacy issues and ensuring the long-term performance of the Snowy 2.0 asset.
  • Proactive Site Monitoring: Review contractor performance to identify and resolve potential issues before they impact project timelines or quality.
  • Technical Collaboration: Work with a multidisciplinary team, offering technical support to site engineers and assurance officers, and coordinating with major contractors including Voith and Future Generation Joint Venture.

About the Location:

This position requires 100% on-site presence, operating on a 14/7 FIFO roster. Standard FIFO camp-style accommodation is provided.

About You:

The ideal candidate will possess both strong technical capabilities and excellent collaborative skills. Essential for success in this role are:

  • Qualifications: A degree in Electrical Engineering that grants eligibility for Corporate Membership of the Institution of Engineers Australia.
  • Experience: Experience with large-scale, complex civil or infrastructure projects and knowledge of EM installation.
  • Adaptability: The capacity to establish priorities, work autonomously, and adapt effectively to evolving site conditions.
  • Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills to foster robust, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
