Senior Testing and Commissioning Engineer (ETCS L2)

Hitachi Rail is seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated Senior Testing & Commissioning Engineer with expertise in ETCS L2. This role is situated in Brisbane, Australia, and requires an individual comfortable managing a spectrum of tasks, from administrative duties to strategic planning, within a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in the testing, commissioning, and integration of intricate signalling systems, encompassing on-board, trackside, communications, and control systems, adhering to established commissioning procedures.
- Conduct factory and site testing as necessitated by project requirements.
- Participate in identifying faults during initial setup (set to work) and throughout the commissioning phase.
- Assist the Commissioning Manager, or their designated representative, in ensuring the timely generation of project-level Test Plans, Procedures, and Reports.
- Support the Commissioning Manager, or their delegate, in the ongoing enhancement of project documentation.
- Manage the loading and verification of software configurations.
- Provide support to engineering and validation teams as required, including:
- Executing test cases and procedures in a laboratory setting to facilitate lab integration activities.
- Ensuring that site test execution plans are viable for implementation in the field or target environment.
- Attend project progress meetings as and when required.
- Uphold the company's and the project's Work, Health, and Safety requirements in the execution of all test and commissioning activities.
- Support the Functional Manager in assessing the performance of assigned personnel, identifying the need for additional resources with project justification, and pinpointing training requirements.
Skills & Experience:
- A Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a comparable discipline.
- An IRSE Electronic Systems Tester License or an Electrical Trade qualification is desirable.
- 5-10 years of experience in the Rail industry or a comparable sector, demonstrating capability and proficiency in:
- Safety systems equipment and environments.
- The use of test equipment, such as digital and analog multimeters, insulation meters, and similar tools.
- The use of computer-based test software, including tools like Wireshark.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of incident/accident investigation processes.
- Familiarity with ERP and Configuration Management tools.
- Knowledge of database tools.
- Understanding of the tendering process.
- Experience with budgeting and cost estimation.
