Barwon Water is seeking a Senior Treatment Engineer for a full-time, onsite position in Geelong.

About the Role

Utilise your technical expertise to shape the performance of critical treatment systems daily. Join our Operations team in a role where your judgement is trusted, your ideas are implemented, and your work directly contributes to safety, reliability, and sustainability outcomes.

In this senior technical capacity, you will apply process engineering knowledge across water, wastewater, recycled water, sludge management, and associated treatment systems. You will lead complex investigations, analyse performance data, and use your judgement to enhance treatment performance, reliability, efficiency, and compliance. Your work will translate technical insights into practical improvements that bolster safety, resilience, and sustainability.

You will also contribute to treatment projects, upgrades, and operational changes, supporting processes from option evaluation through to commissioning and optimisation. A core responsibility involves transforming complex process information into clear operating strategies, procedures, and guidance for daily use. As a senior escalation point, you will provide technical expertise, influence improved outcomes, and foster capability through coaching, mentoring, and technical guidance.

About You

As a senior treatment or process engineer with substantial operational experience and a drive for optimisation, you are comfortable making independent, technically sound decisions in live operational environments, balancing safety, risk, and performance.

With a systems-thinking approach grounded in operational experience, you combine this with engineering fundamentals, plant knowledge, and performance data to address real-world challenges. You are recognised for your ability to influence outcomes by delivering sound, practical solutions in operational settings. You translate complex technical concepts into clear, usable operating practices and build capability across teams through credible, evidence-based guidance.

Drawing on qualifications in chemical or process engineering, or similar, you are motivated by the opportunity to contribute to sustainability, emissions reduction, and circular economy outcomes within a technically demanding context.
