Job Description

Site Engineer

Torrens to Darlington Alliance Adelaide SA full-time onsite

The Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Alliance, a consortium of John Holland, Bouygues Construction, Arcadis Australia, Jacobs, and Ventia, has been appointed by the South Australian Government to construct South Australia's largest road infrastructure project. This initiative will complete the final 10.5km section of the North-South Corridor, establishing a continuous 78 km, non-stop, traffic light-free motorway. The T2D Project encompasses the construction of two tunnels, the Southern Tunnels and the Northern Tunnels, linked by an open motorway, with a combined length of 10.5km, scheduled for traffic in 2031. The project scope includes the tunnels, surface works involving road and bridge construction, service buildings, and complex mechanical and electrical infrastructure. The T2D Alliance aims to provide opportunities for local individuals, Aboriginal workers, apprentices, trainees, and the long-term unemployed, offering a chance to contribute to an iconic project.

As a Site Engineer for the T2D project in Adelaide, you will provide support both onsite and from the office to ensure the successful completion of assigned work scopes. Reporting to a Project Engineer and collaborating with Supervisors, Contractors, the HSE team, and the commercial team, your focus will be on safety, constructability, cost, quality, productivity, and subcontractor performance.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure construction activities adhere to technical specifications, relevant legislation, project approvals, and risk management processes.
  • Assist in the planning and programming of site activities, including short and mid-term scheduling, and support the Project Manager with approvals and coordination.
  • Contribute to on-site design implementation, propose constructability enhancements, and resolve engineering issues through sound professional judgment.
  • Support project financial performance by managing budgets, verifying subcontractor claims and variations, and assisting with cost control and estimating.
  • Maintain precise project documentation, including drawing registers, and report on performance, compliance, non-conformances, and risk controls.
  • Oversee subcontractor performance, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and environmental standards in accordance with Alliance policies and procedures.

About You:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Site engineering experience, preferably on major infrastructure or civil projects.
  • Proficiency in relevant software packages, including Microsoft Office Suite and document management tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to facilitate meetings, conduct toolbox talks, and coordinate with site teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time, prioritise tasks, and maintain high attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

We Offer:

The Alliance is committed to being an employer of choice in Adelaide, recognising that your success contributes to ours. We foster a diverse and inclusive workplace where different perspectives and ideas are valued as essential to our long-term success. We are invested in your future and prioritise providing rich career experiences and ongoing development opportunities to support your growth.
