Structural Designer / Senior Structural Designer

CADDS Group is seeking a motivated and skilled Structural Designer / Senior Structural Designer to join our team in Perth WA. This full-time, onsite position offers the opportunity to contribute to the design and delivery of a variety of structural engineering projects. You will work alongside experienced engineers and designers, developing practical, high-quality solutions while advancing your technical expertise and career within a supportive and collaborative setting. Ad-hoc site visits may be required.

About the Role

As a Structural Designer / Senior Structural Designer, you will be instrumental in the design and delivery of structural engineering projects across diverse industries. Collaborating with engineers and project teams, you will generate accurate 3D models, detailed drawings, and practical design solutions that align with client needs and industry standards. This role provides an excellent platform to engage with varied projects and enhance your technical skills in a supportive and collaborative environment. Based in our Perth CBD office, which is conveniently accessible via public transport, this position includes ad-hoc FIFO travel as necessary for project support on site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce structural designs, 3D models, and detailed drawings for a range of engineering projects.
  • Deliver practical, efficient, and cost-effective design solutions that meet project requirements, client specifications, and Australian Standards.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, designers, shop detailers, and other project teams throughout all project delivery stages.
  • Ensure all design outputs are accurate, compliant, and of high quality.
  • Assist with design reviews and coordination efforts involving internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support project delivery from the initial concept through to the construction phase.
  • Contribute to a positive team environment that prioritises technical excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Assist in the maintenance and enhancement of CADDS design standards and workflows.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • A minimum of 5-10 years of design and drafting experience.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering or Drafting, or equivalent experience.
  • Sound knowledge of structural steel and reinforced concrete design.
  • Proficiency in Microstation, Bentley Structural, Aecosim structural modeler, and/or Tekla.
  • Experience utilising 3D point clouds and survey data.
  • The ability to interpret project requirements and produce designs aligned with stakeholder intent.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to work effectively within a team.
  • The ability to work within project budgets, schedules, and delivery constraints.
  • An understanding of health and safety, quality management, and environmental management systems.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including liaising with project managers, engineers, clients, estimators, junior staff, shop detailers, and third parties.
  • Willingness to attend site on an ad-hoc basis.
  • The ability to interact with shop detailers, review shop models, provide design input, and respond to technical queries (TQs).
  • Previous site experience is highly regarded.
  • Full working rights in Australia are required.
