Structural Engineer

Role Overview
Reporting to the Regional Manager – NSW, this full-time, permanent position is based at our Newcastle CBD office. The Structural Engineer will be responsible for the structural design of process plants and their associated infrastructure for a range of projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake the structural design of materials handling and processing facility structures, including conveyors, bins, and process buildings.
- Develop cost-effective designs that are appropriate for projects and meet client requirements.
- Provide technical support and guidance to the drafting team, supervising the preparation of preliminary and detailed designs.
- Maintain and foster relationships with the DRA multidisciplinary team, clients, and contractors.
- Conduct site inspections during construction.
- Perform regional structural inspections and reporting on brownfields structures.
- Develop design solutions for on-site structural issues.
Essential Attributes
- Tertiary Degree in Civil / Structural Engineering.
- 3+ years of experience working in an engineering detailed design environment.
- Strong mathematics and structural analysis skills.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent attitude, team focus, and commitment towards safety.
- An enthusiastic attitude and a willingness to learn.
Advantageous Attributes
- CPEng/Registered Status or working towards this.
- Proficiency in structural analysis software such as Space Gass or Strand7.
- Experience in mining and/or heavy industry is highly regarded. Candidates from other sectors will be considered, with support provided to build industry-specific knowledge.
