Job Description

Support Worker - Community - St Marys

Claro Disability Services is seeking a casual Support Worker to join our team in St Marys. This is an onsite role.

At Claro, we assist individuals with complex requirements to lead more independent and confident lives. With three decades of experience and a national presence, we are leaders in specialist disability services, delivering excellence in complex support. We provide appropriate accommodation, support, and transitions, guided by expertise and delivered with care.

What makes this role exciting:

  • You will work with individuals facing significant, real-world needs, encompassing mobility, medical care, daily routines, communication, and engaging activities.
  • Each client presents a unique situation, requiring you to tailor support to their specific goals, preferences, routines, values, and cultural background.
  • You will collaborate with families, medical professionals, and fellow support workers to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Shifts are flexible around your day, and you will have the opportunity to build genuine relationships, moving beyond mere task completion.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Person-centred planning: Engaging with clients (and their families/advocates) to understand their needs, goals, and routines.
  • Medical supports: Monitoring for changes, adhering to medical and clinical plans, and liaising with the care team regarding any shifts in condition.
  • Social time and participation: Facilitating meaningful engagement, enjoyment, and community access aligned with client interests.
  • Autonomy and advocacy: Supporting decision-making processes, respecting consent, and promoting independence where feasible.
  • Cultural humility: Demonstrating respect for diverse backgrounds, beliefs, and ways of being.

We are looking for:

  • A person-centred, warm, patient, and genuinely caring individual.
  • An interest or experience in complex care, disability, and health-related nuances.
  • A great communicator, skilled in active listening, reading cues, and adapting communication styles.
  • Someone reliable and professional, with strong notetaking abilities and good teamwork skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, comfortable with evolving needs and varying shifts.
  • Alignment with our values: Bring Energy, Nurture and Care, Act with Integrity, Listen and Connect.
  • Optional but nice to have: Manual handling, epilepsy management, or disability support training.

What you’ll receive:

  • Paid induction and training upon commencement.
  • Meaningful, person-centred work that makes a real impact daily.
  • An employee referral bonus valued at $300.
  • Tailored onboarding for each client and ongoing support from a clinical team.
  • A supportive, collaborative team that values your input and professional development.
  • Competitive remuneration and clear pathways for skill enhancement and role progression.
  • A workplace that embodies our values in every interaction.
  • Recognition through our Employee of the Month program.

Claro Disability Services is a values-led organisation committed to bringing energy, acting with integrity, nurturing and caring, and listening and connecting. Our values reflect our dedication to our people, clients, and community, defining our identity, actions, and methods. Together, we excel.

We are an equal opportunity employer dedicated to fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace. We encourage and welcome applications from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples, people with disability, people of all ages, cultural identities, gender identities and expressions, and LGBTIQA+ people.
