Support Worker Team Leader

RSL LifeCare is seeking a full-time Support Worker Team Leader for an onsite role in Tea Gardens.

Purpose of the Role This position offers day-to-day leadership and supervision for a team of HomeCare Support Workers. The role focuses on ensuring each client receives high-quality, individualised, and safe care that aligns with their personal goals, while also cultivating strong engagement and performance within the support-worker team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Individualised Care: Cultivate respectful client relationships, champion their dignity and preferences, and communicate feedback to maintain up-to-date support plans.
  • Integrated Care & Communication: Serve as a liaison between corporate, clinical, and field teams; facilitate team meetings; maintain accurate documentation; and embody RSL LifeCare values.
  • Effective Care & Quality: Supervise the delivery of complex-care tasks, monitor client wellbeing, manage supplies, lead complaint resolution, and support audit readiness.
  • Safe Care & WHS: Foster a safety culture, ensure correct medication management, report hazards and incidents in Riskman, and maintain sound professional boundaries.
  • People Leadership: Provide onboarding support and mentorship to new staff, coordinate rosters, assist with performance reviews, and contribute to recruitment and disciplinary processes.

Key Working Relationships Your direct reports will be Home Care Support Workers. You will also work closely with the HomeCare Area Manager, Care Coordinators, Registered Nurses, Workforce Planning, Clinical Governance, People & Culture, Risk & Compliance, WHS, as well as clients and their families.

Essential Requirements

  • Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing or Disability) and the medication-assist module CHCC305C (or an equivalent qualification).
  • Demonstrated experience in community aged-care, including complex-care and medication support.
  • The ability to consult with and influence stakeholders; strong organisational and delegation skills, along with proficiency in MS Office.
  • A solid understanding of Aged-Care Quality Standards, infection control, manual-handling techniques, and other safe-work practices.
  • Compassion, empathy, and a dedication to client-centred care.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Certificate IV in Individual Support.
  • Experience in a leadership role.
  • Mental Health First Aid certification.
  • Proficiency in a second language.
  • An understanding of veterans' needs.

Employment Prerequisites

  • Legal right to work in Australia.
  • National Police check and NDIS screening.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certifications.
  • An Australian driver licence and a comprehensively-insured, road-worthy vehicle.
