This presents a unique opportunity to join the Swillhouse Executive Team as a Financial Controller. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will be responsible for leading the financial performance, governance, and operational integrity of the business, ensuring our financial systems, reporting, and controls support sustainable growth across the group. This role merges strategic financial leadership with hands-on operational engagement. You will collaborate closely with the Executive Team and venue leadership to provide commercial insights, enhance financial discipline, and contribute to informed business decisions within one of Australia's leading independent hospitality groups.
About the Role
As Financial Controller, you will manage all facets of Swillhouse's finance function, ensuring accurate reporting, robust financial governance, and effective commercial support throughout the business.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading, mentoring, and developing the Finance Team.
- Delivering timely and accurate financial reporting, forecasting, and business insights.
- Driving budgeting, cash flow management, and financial planning across the group.
- Partnering with operational leaders to improve commercial performance and support strategic decision-making.
- Strengthening internal controls, financial processes, and compliance frameworks.
- Managing statutory reporting, taxation, audit requirements, and external financial relationships.
- Overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, treasury, and financial accounting functions.
- Working closely with the CEO and Executive Team to shape financial strategy and support long-term business growth.
- Leading continuous improvement initiatives across finance systems, reporting, and commercial processes.
About You
You are an experienced finance leader who combines technical proficiency with commercial acumen, strong leadership capabilities, and a collaborative approach.
You will possess:
- 8-10+ years of experience in finance and accounting, including senior leadership responsibilities.
- Strong commercial finance experience with a proven ability to partner with operational leaders to drive business performance.
- Demonstrated experience leading high-performing finance teams and developing team capabilities.
- Extensive knowledge of financial reporting, accounting standards, taxation, and compliance.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate financial data into practical business insights.
- Confidence in partnering with senior stakeholders to influence commercial decision-making.
- Exceptional attention to detail, integrity, and sound judgement.
- Experience utilising financial systems and reporting platforms; exposure to Xero and/or MYOB would be beneficial.
- Experience within hospitality, retail, marketing, media, or other fast-paced multi-site consumer businesses will be highly regarded.
- A CPA or CA qualification is required.
