Your Opportunity to Train Apprentices

CQUniversity is seeking experienced Diesel Fitters and Heavy Automotive professionals to share their expertise and contribute to the development of future tradespeople. As a TAFE Teacher, you will mentor, guide, and influence emerging tradespeople in the region. You will deliver practical, hands-on training in heavy vehicle, mobile plant, and diesel fitting disciplines. Your industry experience will be instrumental in equipping students with the technical skills and knowledge necessary for successful careers in the trades.

Your Week

CQUniversity operates under a structured Vocational Education and Training (VET) workload model that accounts for both teaching time and work undertaken outside the classroom. The standard work week is 36.25 hours, encompassing teaching, preparation, marking, and student support. Teaching time typically comprises 22 hours per week, with the possibility of up to 25 hours by agreement, and no more than 9 teaching hours in a single day. Preparation and marking are included within paid hours and are not expected to be completed in personal time. Flexible working hours are arranged around teaching requirements, with flexibility supported where feasible to accommodate personal, family, and carer responsibilities.

Position Requirements

• A relevant qualification in automotive diesel engine technology, engineering, or a similar field.
• Demonstrated current industry skills directly applicable to the training and assessment to be delivered.
• Willingness to obtain a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (fully funded), or currently hold TAE40110 or a higher qualification.
• Knowledge of the education and training sector, with the ability to respond positively to evolving training market directions.
