Testing & Quality Engineer – Electrical Switchboard Systems
RMS Manufacturing is seeking a skilled Testing & Quality Engineer to join our team. This full-time position is based remotely, with an annual salary range of $93,000 – $100,000.
This role is suited for an individual with robust electrical testing experience, a keen eye for detail, and the confidence to engage with both engineering and production departments. You will be instrumental in ensuring our switchboards, distribution boards, and control panels are manufactured, tested, documented, and delivered to the required standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct functional, electrical, and mechanical testing of main switchboards, distribution boards, and control panels.
- Verify compliance with relevant standards, including AS/NZS 61439, AS/NZS 3000, and Victorian SIRs.
- Perform insulation resistance, continuity, torque, protection relay, and operational testing.
- Plan, prepare, and lead Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) with customers and project stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate test records, checklists, reports, and sign-off documentation.
- Identify non-conformances, complete root-cause analysis, and coordinate corrective actions.
- Review drawings, schematics, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) for accuracy and manufacturability.
- Provide remote and on-site support during installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate closely with engineering and production, electrical fitters, and sheetmetal teams.
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- A degree in Electrical Engineering and/or an electrical licence.
- Experience with switchboards, distribution boards, control panels, or industrial electrical equipment.
- A strong understanding of Australian electrical standards and safety requirements.
- Experience using electrical testing equipment such as multimeters and insulation testers.
- The ability to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and single-line diagrams.
- Strong documentation, reporting, and communication skills.
- A practical, hands-on approach with strong problem-solving ability.
