Wesfarmers Chemicals, Energy & Fertilisers (WesCEF) Electrical/Instrumentation Engineering Vacation Program 2026/2027

WesCEF is offering Electrical and/or Instrumentation and Controls Engineering students the opportunity to transition theory into practice by addressing real business challenges. This impactful 12-week program offers the chance to build technical knowledge through hands-on operational experience, complemented by dedicated mentoring and support. Our world-class production facilities in Kwinana provide the best practical experience without the need for fly-in, fly-out arrangements. Applications are open for Electrical/Instrumentation Engineering disciplines for placements commencing in late November 2026.

Program Offering

Applications are now being accepted for Electrical Engineering students in their penultimate year of study to participate in our vacation work opportunities. This is a 12-week paid Vacation Program scheduled to run from late November 2026 through mid-February 2027.

Through vacation work with WesCEF, you will apply theoretical knowledge, enhance your technical expertise, collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders, and develop communication and leadership capabilities. Our aim is to support you throughout your journey, providing tailored training, guidance, and a launchpad for a successful career.

Your placement could be at one of our operational facilities located in Kwinana:

  • CSBP AAN (production of ammonia gas, ammonium nitrate solid and liquid, and emulsion products)
  • Kleenheat (gas production – LNG and LPG)
  • Australian Gold Reagents (sodium cyanide production – liquid & solid)
  • CSBP Fertilisers (a range of liquid and solid fertiliser and nutrient products)
  • WesCEF Technical and Operational Services

Our program will offer you the opportunity to:

  • Develop highly sought-after skills for future employment, including safety, commercial acumen, communication, presentation, and influencing abilities.
  • Implement and enhance your technical skills and knowledge in a hands-on engineering work environment.
  • Engage in meaningful and relevant projects that will directly impact our business, with the opportunity to present your findings to our leadership team.
  • Join our supportive engineering team and gain invaluable experience from recent graduates, engineers, operators, and technical services teams.
  • Work closely with your mentor, who will provide guidance and assistance throughout the program.
  • Collaborate with and build lasting relationships with fellow WesCEF vacation engineering students.

Some students may be offered a cadetship with WesCEF, which involves part-time employment during their final year of university and serves as a potential pathway to our graduate program. Please note that cadetships are not guaranteed.

About You

You will be an engineering student in your penultimate year who enjoys collaborating with a broad range of internal stakeholders and thrives in an inclusive, collaborative, and innovative environment with a strong safety culture. Additionally, you will value the opportunity to build on your:
