Academic Course Manager - Higher Education

Box Hill Institute is seeking an Academic Course Manager to join their team on a full-time, on-going basis at their Box Hill campus. This is an onsite role offering attractive remuneration plus campus perks.

About the Role: Reporting to the Head of Department, the Academic Course Manager will lead curriculum design, renewal, and academic quality for higher education programs. This role involves both strategic and operational leadership to ensure programs are relevant, compliant, and aligned with industry requirements. You will lead a team of academic staff, cultivate a culture of excellence in teaching and learning, and contribute directly to student success. A teaching load is included in this position, allowing you to maintain connection with students and classroom practice while driving academic outcomes.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead the design, review, and continuous improvement of curriculum aligned with academic and industry standards.
  • Deliver high-quality teaching within the program, fostering an engaging and student-centred learning experience.
  • Oversee assessment design and moderation to ensure fairness, validity, and alignment with learning outcomes.
  • Drive excellence in teaching practices through innovation, inclusivity, and evidence-informed approaches.
  • Manage and mentor academic staff, including performance, capability development, and work planning.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with industry, professional bodies, and community stakeholders.
  • Contribute to strategic planning, budgeting, and operational delivery of programs.
  • Promote scholarly teaching, integrating research and industry knowledge into course delivery.

About You: You are an experienced academic leader with a passion for delivering high-quality education and driving student success. You possess strong leadership capabilities, a commitment to continuous improvement, and the ability to balance strategic priorities with hands-on teaching.

To be successful, you will have:

  • An approved AQF Level 9 qualification (Master's or higher) or equivalent academic/industry leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading curriculum design and delivering high-quality teaching and learning outcomes.
  • Proven experience in managing and developing academic teams, including performance and capability building.
  • Strong knowledge of higher education governance, quality assurance, and compliance frameworks.
  • Sound knowledge of Australian Computer Society (ACS) accreditation requirements.
  • Experience managing academic administration, including audits, accreditation, and quality processes.
  • Ability to embed innovative, scholarly teaching practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Alignment with a child-safe, inclusive, and values-based workplace.
  • Have, or be willing to obtain, a Victorian Working with Children Check and National Police Check clearance.
