Administration Officer - Emergency Department

Hobart Private Hospital Location: Hobart TAS Work Type: Part-time (20 hours per week) with opportunity for additional casual shifts. Salary: Up to $36.21 per hour.

Hobart Private Hospital is seeking an experienced Administration Officer with exceptional interpersonal skills and a commitment to high-quality patient care to join its Emergency Department team. This permanent part-time role offers the chance to contribute to an inclusive, values-led workplace within one of Tasmania's leading private hospitals.

Our Emergency Department operates 24/7, delivering urgent medical care to the Greater Hobart region. Our team collaborates with leading specialists, physicians, and surgeons on call, with access to Orthopaedic, General Surgery, Cardiology, Urology, and other surgical specialties. On-site Pathology, Radiology, and Pharmacy services are available.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Function as part of a cooperative team within the 24-hour Emergency Department, adhering to policies and procedures to meet patient needs.
  • Perform Reception duties for the Emergency Department.
  • Ensure all Emergency Department administration functions are executed efficiently and effectively, prioritising excellent customer service.
  • Understand and undertake tasks related to other front office Emergency Department functions as required.
  • Undertake other duties as directed by the Unit Manager.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in line with legislative requirements and organisational policies.
  • Adhere to all organisational policies and procedures, including but not limited to OH&S, Workers' Compensation, and Infection Control.

Essential Criteria:

  • Current Working with Vulnerable People registration.
  • Minimum of one year's experience in an administrative position.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience using MS Office suite programs, including spreadsheets and email.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Commitment to excellent customer service and continuous improvement.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Working knowledge of health funds as they relate to the private sector.
  • Previous experience in a similar role within a private hospital setting.
  • Knowledge and understanding of confidentiality issues.
  • Experience with hospital patient management systems.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology.

Remuneration: Successful candidates will receive a salary based on their years of relevant experience, in accordance with the current Healthscope - Tasmania - Non Nursing - Enterprise Agreement 2021 - 2025, with an hourly rate of up to $36.21.
