Salary: $77,850 to $84,084 per annum. Work type: Full-time Location: On-site

The Department of Justice is seeking an Administrative Officer to join the Office of the Ombudsman and Health Complaints Commissioner. Hours per fortnight: 73.50 hours.

Duties:

  • Provide professional, accurate, and confidential administrative support to staff of the Office of the Ombudsman and Health Complaints Commissioner.
  • Serve as the initial point of contact for the Office of the Ombudsman via telephone and in person, offering advice as necessary in accordance with relevant legislation and procedural guidelines.
  • Coordinate correspondence for all jurisdictions, including maintaining the incoming mail register and filing incoming correspondence, both electronically and physically.
  • Undertake data entry of highly confidential complaint and enquiry information into a case management database and extract reports as required.
  • Assist staff with the use of case management software, including file maintenance.
  • Perform high-level administrative functions integral to the daily operations of the office, such as processing accounts payable, arranging travel, ordering stationery, and coordinating petty cash.
  • Assist in the preparation, maintenance, and implementation of relevant procedural documentation.
  • The incumbent may be allocated duties not specifically detailed herein, provided they are within the capacity, qualification, and experience typically expected for this classification level.

The Head of State Service has determined that the nominated person for this vacancy must satisfy a pre-employment check prior to appointment, promotion, or transfer. The following checks will be conducted:

  • Pre-employment (National Police Record) checks for: Arson and fire setting, violent crimes and crimes against the person, sex-related offences, drug and alcohol related offences, crimes involving dishonesty, deception and/or conspiracy, making false declarations, malicious damage and destruction to property, serious traffic offences, crimes against public order or relating to the Administration of Law and Justice, Executive or the Legislative Power.
  • Disciplinary action in previous employment.
  • Identification check.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Relevant qualifications.
  • A Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People.
