You will collaborate with experienced researchers on externally funded projects, aim to publish in high-quality journals and conferences, develop your own research program and funding portfolio, and contribute to research with impact for industry, society, and the broader community.
Responsibilities:
- Teaching:
- Deliver high-quality, student-centred teaching in undergraduate and postgraduate programs related to Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, and associated disciplines.
- Design, develop, and enhance curriculum, learning resources, and assessments, integrating contemporary pedagogical practices and educational technologies.
- Facilitate engaging learning experiences through lectures, tutorials, laboratories, workshops, and project-based learning, promoting an inclusive learning environment.
- Supervise honours and postgraduate coursework research projects, and contribute to unit coordination and student mentoring, as appropriate for the appointment level.
- Research:
- Contribute to high-quality research in AI, Machine Learning, and Data Science.
- Publish research findings in high-quality refereed journals and conferences.
- Collaborate with colleagues and industry partners on research projects.
- Develop an emerging research profile and contribute to competitive funding applications.
- Assist with the supervision of honours and postgraduate research students.
- Engagement & Leadership:
- Contribute to a collegial, inclusive, and collaborative academic environment that supports excellence in teaching, research, and student success.
- Develop and maintain productive relationships with industry, professional bodies, alumni, and community partners to enhance teaching, research, and impact.
- Participate in academic governance, service activities, and professional engagement within the School, University, and broader discipline, as appropriate for the appointment level.
Selection Criteria:
- Qualifications:
- A doctoral qualification in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related discipline, with expertise in the development or application of AI and data-driven technologies.
- Knowledge, Experience, and Skills:
- Demonstrated experience, or the capacity to contribute to, high-quality teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, and related areas within computer science and software engineering.
- Demonstrated ability, or the potential, to develop and deliver engaging, student-centred learning experiences using contemporary teaching practices and educational technologies.
- Knowledge of contemporary educational practices, including curriculum design, assessment, and innovative approaches to teaching and learning in higher education.
- A developing track record of research in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, or related areas, demonstrated through quality research outputs, with the potential to establish an impactful research profile, attract competitive funding, and collaborate with industry and research partners.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated commitment to fostering a collegial, inclusive, and supportive working environment, and the ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, and external stakeholders from diverse cultural backgrounds.
