Client Intake Paralegal
KSC Law is seeking an organised, empathetic, detail-focused Client Intake Paralegal motivated by work with a real human impact. This is an opportunity to join a values-led firm where your work directly supports Australian Defence Force veterans and their families at the beginning of their legal journey.
KSC Law operates within complex statutory compensation frameworks, delivering clear, ethical, and client-focused legal support to those who have served our country. The firm was established to bring accountability, professionalism, and compassion to veteran-focused legal services, with a focus on veteran compensation, entitlements, and permanent impairment claims.
The Role As a Client Intake Paralegal, you will be a key contact point for prospective and new clients, helping them feel heard, supported, and guided. This is not a standard intake or administration role; your work will ensure veterans and their families are properly listened to, accurately understood, and connected with the right legal support. You will work closely with experienced lawyers and paralegals in a supportive environment where mentoring, training, and professional development are valued. The work is fast-paced and demanding, but genuinely meaningful.
Responsibilities:
- Speaking with prospective clients and gathering initial information about their circumstances.
- Conducting preliminary intake calls in a professional, compassionate, and structured manner.
- Recording client details, claim history, service background, injury information, and relevant timelines.
- Assisting with initial matter assessments under the supervision of lawyers.
- Requesting, organising, and reviewing key documents, including DVA, CSC, medical, service, and claim-related materials.
- Preparing intake summaries for lawyers and senior staff.
- Opening new matters and ensuring client records are accurate and complete.
- Managing intake workflows, follow-ups, and onboarding steps.
- Liaising with clients, medical providers, government departments, and other stakeholders.
- Supporting the broader legal team with administrative and paralegal tasks as required.
This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work with sensitive personal information in a respectful and confidential manner.
About You: You will thrive in this role if you:
- Have experience as a paralegal, legal assistant, client intake officer, claims assistant, or in a similar legal support role.
- Communicate clearly, professionally, and with empathy.
- Are confident speaking with clients by phone and email.
- Are highly organised and able to manage competing priorities.
- Have strong attention to detail and take pride in accurate file notes and documentation.
- Are comfortable working with sensitive information and complex personal circumstances.
- Can follow systems and processes while exercising sound judgment.
- Work well both independently and as part of a close-knit team.
- Are motivated by purpose-driven work supporting veterans and their families.
Experience in personal injury, statutory compensation, veterans’ affairs, superannuation, insurance, or claims work will be highly regarded, but is not essential. The right attitude, professionalism, and willingness to learn are just as important.
